Alpha Wolf @ South Side Music Hall, Dallas

Half Living Things Tour

On a sweltering summer night in Dallas, South Side Music Hall transformed into a crucible of aggression and catharsis as Australian metal-core outfit Alpha Wolf unleashed their absolutely visceral energy upon a packed house.

A little preface beforehand, this tour was in support of their latest album Half Living Things. Half Living Things which was released earlier this year is my #1 album of the year so far. Yes, above Cure by Erra, and I’m sure I will get some backlash for this take, but better than You Won’t Go Before You’re Suppose To by Knocked Loose. Front to back the album has ZERO skips. The Production, the riffs, the breakdowns, the lyrics, I love it all. This album is the definition of metal-core for me and I can’t see any releases this year topping Half Living Things.

Alpha Wolf exploded into their set with “Bring Back the Noise,” an anthem of unapologetic aggression that immediately ignited mosh pits and crowd surfers. Vocalist Lochie Keogh's guttural screams cut through the air like a serrated knife, commanding attention and inciting chaos in equal measure. The band's performance was a masterclass in controlled chaos. Guitarists Sabian Lynch and Scott Simpson delivered bone-crushing riffs that reverberated through the venue, while drummer Mitch Fogarty pounded the drums that drove the intensity to new heights. Bassist John Arnold provided a solid foundation, his low-end grooves adding a sinister edge to each song.

Tracks like "Akudama," with its ominous atmosphere and punishing breakdowns, and "Creep," a relentless onslaught of fury and angst, showcased Alpha Wolf's ability to blend brutality with melodic hooks. Each song was executed with precision, yet maintained a rawness that connected deeply with the audience.

The emotional core of Alpha Wolf's performance was evident in Keogh's stage presence. His raw, visceral delivery and introspective lyrics resonated with fans, many of whom screamed every word back at him with fervor.

Alpha Wolf's concert at South Side Music Hall was not just a show, but a visceral experience that left an indelible mark on everyone in attendance. From the relentless energy of their performance to the emotional depth of their lyrics, Alpha Wolf proved why they are at the forefront of the modern metal-core scene.

If you missed Alpha Wolf's performance in Dallas, you missed more than a concert — you missed an experience that blurred the lines between band and audience, leaving everyone hungry for more.
