MOTIONLESS IN WHITE @ the Ford Center - The Dark Horizon Tour

Featuring - In This Moment(Co-Headlining), Fit For A King, From Ashes to New

Every once in a while there is a tour announcement that just has a ridiculously stacked line up, that has not only one, not two, not three, but four massive bands on the bill. That is the Dark Horizon tour. Motionless in White co-headlining with In This Moment and Fit For a King opening alongside From Ashes to New. As soon as the tour was announced I rushed to check if they were coming to a city near me. Sadly they weren’t, and that happens from time to time. Not every tour from your favorite band is able to make a stop in your city and that’s just the facts. So what should every die hard metal fan do to support their favorite band? Fly across the country and buy a ticket to a show anyways. Kidding, you don’t have to do that, but that is what I did. So off I flew up to Evansville, Indiana to check out Motionless in White on one of their last stops on The Dark Horizons tour, and I did not regret it one bit.

From Ashes to New is in my opinion one of the best bands you could have as an opener. As much as I would love to see them headlining, they set the stage as an opener like no other. The energy they bring, and each banger after banger they play really gets fans off their feet. I honestly don’t have very many words for Fit For a King. They have been one of my favorite bands in the scene for the last 10 years and they continue to impress me every single time I go out to see them. My favorite over the years has been listening to Kirby’s DISGUSTING lows, but his cleans have been sounding INSANE and I have to give a round of applause to Tuck as well, whose vocals have impressed me the most. If you’re looking to hear more of Tuck check out his other band Off Road Minivan, you will not be disappointed.

Now I’m going to do this sort of out of order as In This Moment was the “headliner” tonight and Motionless in White played before them, but I’m going to talk about In This Moment first. If you want to see a show, and I mean a true production you have got to go see In This Moment. Maria Brink’s vision and direction for these shows is immaculate and the set pieces and costumes are gorgeous. I put her production on par with Rob Zombie, and that is saying quite a lot.

Motionless in White. I have seen them in clubs, in bars, at festivals, in arenas, and they sound so god damn good no matter where they play. I honestly don’t think I could put them in a tiered list for you because they have sounded and performed amazing EVERY SINGLE TIME. Not once have I been let down going to these guys show, not a single time. Whether you like Motionless in White’s old stuff or new this set had it all from “Code” and “Headache” off of their album Disguise from “Reincarnate” to “Eternally Yours”. My personal favorites were “Masterpiece” and “Another Life” as they show the insane range Chris has as a metal vocalist. Truly one of the best to do it over the last 20 years. This show did have a small first for me as well as it was my first time seeing them perform with full pyrotechnics. And I have to say, please have them at every show. Pyrotechnics at shows makes everything better, and lasers. More pyrotecnics and lasers would make me one very happy photographer. I also have to throw a quick shoutout to the crew member in charge of the pyro for giving me a heads up or my hair would definitely have been set on fire as I was taking photos directly in front of where the fire was going to come out. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart.

Now like I said before some shows just aren’t able to come to your city every single tour, but what makes this year great is that Motionless in White is only taking a short 3 or so week hiatus and is back hitting the road for another headlining tour starting mid September alongside Knocked Loose, After the Burial, and Alpha Wolf. This time they are stopping in my city(Dallas) and you already know I wouldn’t miss that show for anything. So I hope to see you guys there!
